Weed? Says who?

Dandelion

I always hated it when people called dandelions weeds.   They are either bright yellow flowers or these beautiful whispy puffs.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder which is why I was very happy to see this definition of weeds.    It sort of reminds me of a quote that I heard (or maybe said) about sexual harassment.  It’s not harassment if you like it.

So, keep in mind that you decide what is a weed in your yard, your garden and your life.  You can choose who and what you appreciate for their true beauty!

  1. Dandelions (albeit ones that haven’t been subjected to common lawn pesticides and fertilizers) are also some of the most nutritious greens out there. They are spurned because of their bitter flavor and reputation as a ‘weed’, but both the greens and the root are great for the digestive system, kidneys, and particularly favor the gall bladder. In the health food world, dandelion root tea has now become a darling of people trying to ‘clense’, but eating dandelion has a lot of benefits beyond that. It’s a powerful little plant. Besides which, we all remember making wishes don’t we? Children have it right.
